There are many reasons to choose home schooling over public schools. Having the opportunity to spend more time with your children is not the least of them.
To have more control on the education of your child, is important to you? Having your son or daughter getting all the attention, he or she desserves? Then home schooling is likely for you.
WARNING! - public schools aren't always overjoyed to see you go. The information you need to get started may not be readily laid out for you.
Each state has it's own policies and each state is different. Every children between the ages of 6 and 16 has to get an education, that is a common requirement to every states. So if they're not attending public schools, you'll have to show that they're learning at home. (Especially if you want your child to advance to college!)
If you think you're the best qualified to be teaching your child, you can do it!
But there are some things you need to take care of.
_ First there are many factors to consider before you even think of getting started home schooling your child: Personnal commitment, household organization, financial security, consentement of both parents and the child, etc.
_ Make sure you have the current information for home schooling in your state.
_ Have your proposal to home school your child approve by school district.
_ Find out what the courts WILL expect from you as a teacher.
_ Know how many days must be spent home schooling each week, month, or year. Etc.

Making the decision to home school your child is an important one. It can be greatly rewarding to you and your child but it is an adventure you have to believe and invest yourself totally in.
